Several actors from the popular Marvel franchise Guardians of the Galaxy have expressed interest in working together again outside of Marvel’s cinematic universe. Dave Bautista, known for playing Drax the Destroyer, has said he wants to collaborate more with his Guardians co-stars such as Chris Pratt and Zoe Saldana. He recently appeared alongside Pom Klementieff from Guardians in the Lionsgate film The Killer’s Game, set for release on September 13.
The director of the Guardians movies, James Gunn, now co-runs DC Studios along with Peter Safran. When asked about possibly joining the DC Universe, Bautista responded that he would be open to it if the part was right. He added that he enjoys working with Gunn. Gunn himself hinted on social media that Guardians stars could appear in upcoming DC projects, cryptically replying to a fan’s question about castings.
Actors crossing over between the two major superhero franchises is already occurring. Sean Gunn, the brother of James Gunn who played Kraglin in Guardians, will take on the role of villain Maxwell Lord for DC. This booking has led to more speculation about potential reunions between franchises.
As the DC Cinematic Universe expands under new leadership, all eyes are on signs of Marvel actors arriving. With Gunn at the creative helm and the Superman project Superman: Legacy already filmed for a 2025 release, there is potential for surprise appearances satisfying fans of both universes. While nothing has been officially confirmed, statements from those involved suggest a Guardians reunion in the DC Universe remains possible.
