The release of the third and final season of the Prime Video series “Good Omens” has hit a snag. Filming on Season 3 was scheduled to begin in Scotland in early 2025 but is now on pause. This delay comes amid recent controversies surrounding the show’s creator, Neil Gaiman.
Prime Video remains in discussions about potential adjustments to the production. Sources say the streaming service has yet to comment publicly on the situation. However, the hold comes after Gaiman faced sexual assault accusations, which he denies.
Other projects from Gaiman across Netflix and Disney have also faced setbacks. Netflix canceled the “Sandman” spinoff “Deadboy Detectives” last year. Disney postponed plans to adapt Gaiman’s “The Graveyard Book” novel as well.
Fans of “Good Omens” may be especially disappointed by this news. Season 2 ended on a dramatic cliffhanger that left viewers eager to see how the dynamic between angel Aziraphale and demon Crowley resolved. As Heaven’s new Supreme Archangel, Aziraphale had been separated from Crowley, leaving their relationship in flux.
While the exact changes under discussion remain private, insiders speculate Prime Video may seek to distance the property from Gaiman. One possibility is bringing back Douglas Mackinnon, who served as co-showrunner and director for Seasons 1 and 2. With his experience on the show, he could helm Season 3 if asked.
Despite present uncertainty, organizers hope adjustments can be made without disrupting the original 2025 production timeline. Keeping the project on track remains a priority. Only time will tell how this unfolding situation impacts “Good Omens” and its dedicated fan base.
Prime Video has not updated the projected Season 3 release date. Both viewers and industry members wait to learn more as developments emerge in the continuing story.
