Production has started in Wales on director Jamie Adams’ latest movie, “Let’s Love.” The film brings together a talented ensemble, including Martin Freeman from “The Responder,” Josh Hutcherson from “The Hunger Games,” Malin Akerman from “Watchmen,” and Jess Weixler from “Monsters.”
The relationship-focused comedy follows four movie industry professionals who reunite in Wales. They believe they are attending a fan event celebrating the 10th anniversary of their previous successful collaboration. However, the group discovers their studio contact scheduled them for the wrong month. This unexpected change gives them a chance to develop a new pitch for a sequel to their original film.
The story centers around screenwriter Nigel, played by Freeman, director Andrea portrayed by Akerman, Andrea’s actor husband Jackson played by Hutcherson, and Weixler as Jackson’s former co-star Jess. In searching for fresh ideas, their journey takes them around the beautiful Welsh countryside. This tour eventually returns them to the original filming location of their cult classic. The unplanned trip forces the group to face personal anxieties, ambitions, and complex dynamics between them.
“At its heart, this is a comedy about relationships,” explains producer Tom George of Happy Hour Productions. “We’re throwing these incredible actors into fun scenarios. It will be fascinating to see the results.”
Filming spans multiple Welsh locations including Cardiff, Brecon Beacons National Park, Porthcrawl, and Dragon Studios in Bridgend. The film comes from a partnership between Bristol’s Happy Hour Productions and Manchester’s Boudica Entertainment, aided by Principal Film Finance.
Known for an original improvisational directing style, Adams assembled a supporting cast including Craig Roberts from “Submarine,” Chloe Jouannet, and Richard Elis. His previous works involve “Love Spreads” and “She is Love.”
“Let’s Love has been one of my greatest experiences,” said Adams, grateful for his cast and crew. “Independent movies still thrive, especially with talents like Martin Freeman, Josh Hutcherson, Malin Akerman, and Jess Weixler.”
Freeman, who embraces Adams’ unique approach, expressed excitement for the project: “Working with Jamie again on ‘Let’s Love’ is truly a joy. I’d happily do it all over.”
Using predominantly improvised dialogue, the movie expects to finish post-production by early 2025. Producer Rebecca Long of Boudica highlighted the uniqueness of this project and thrill of a feature with Adams’ original method and an accomplished ensemble. The film’s worldwide rights remain available as producers contact potential distributors.
