Fans of the popular anime series “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners” have some interesting news to look forward to. Two important announcements were made on December 13, 2024, revealing intentions for a Blu-ray release and a manga prequel. These additions promise to improve the dystopian world of Night City for both viewers and collectors.

In 2025, anime fans can acquire a physical copy of the Netflix original series. Aniplex will release the Blu-ray box set throughout Asia and North America. Japanese fans may now pre-order it via the official Aniplex website. While an exact worldwide release date is unknown, this announcement provides an excellent opportunity for fans to add the series to their collections.

“Cyberpunk: Edgerunners” debuted on Netflix in 2022 and soon garnered popularity due to its strong storyline and gorgeous animation by Studio Trigger. The series is inspired by the video game “Cyberpunk 2077” and follows David Martinez, a former model student turned mercenary. After facing sorrow, he transforms into an edge runner, an empowered mercenary.

Aside from the Blu-ray announcement, fans can look forward to “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners MADNESS,” a manga prequel. This series will look into the backstories of popular characters Rebecca and Pilar. Bartosz Sztybor, the anime’s original producer and CD Projekt Red’s narrative director, is penning the manga, which Asano will illustrate.

Sztybor expressed his enthusiasm on social media, describing the project as “a dream come true.” Kadokawa will publish the manga on the Comic Alive+ platform in Japan and translate it into eight languages, including English. Dark Horse will handle the English print version.

The official synopsis promises to explore the siblings’ journey through Night City as they strive to establish themselves as edge runners, giving fans a better understanding of the series’ rich story.

The extension of the “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners” franchise emphasizes its cultural significance. Since its debut on Netflix, Studio Trigger’s adaptation has captivated audiences worldwide thanks to its intense action and outstanding character development.

As fans eagerly await both the Blu-ray release and the manga prequel, it is evident that the Night City universe continues to captivate viewers with its unique blend of technology, survival, and human emotion.
