In a recent “The Graham Norton Show” interview, Coughlan joked that she had never portrayed an adult until this season. She recalled her earlier appearance in “Bridgerton,” comparing it to “Spongebob Squarepants,” with her wavy ginger hair and bright yellow clothes.
This season marks a dramatic transition for Coughlan, as she plays a central romance role opposite Luke Newton. However, this transition presents issues, particularly with the show’s sequences, which have become the series’ signature.
Coughlan takes a risk with on-screen nudity, highlighting her choice in a specific sequence. “There’s one scene where I’m very naked on camera, and that was my idea, my choice,” she told Stylist magazine. She sees this move as a bold statement against body shaming, indicating her willingness to accept her appearance. “I want to look back and remember how ‘fucking hot’ I looked,” she tweeted.
The actress also spoke about her family’s reactions to the sensual scenes. Coughlan claimed that her mother was furious about them, so she skipped the viewing with her. To adhere to her family’s “Irish Catholic” ideals, they watch a specially edited version of the show that excludes the most intimate scenes.
Coughlan stressed the significance of comfort in her profession, adding that her contract contains certain provisions governing how such scenarios are handled.
