Amanda Seyfried recently shared details about a wardrobe mishap at the 2023 Critics Choice Awards, crediting Glen Powell with helping her avoid a major fashion disaster. Speaking with People, Seyfried described how her vintage Dior Haute Couture gown started falling apart throughout the event, eventually leading to an unexpected moment of exposure.
“My boobs fell out of my dress,” Seyfried said. “I was wearing this amazing vintage dress. I made my stylist dress up in it before I went just for fun. It was kind of sewn together and started truly falling apart, literally falling off of me on the red carpet. I think there were even interviews where I’m saying it’s breaking off.”
The situation escalated when she was mid-conversation with Powell. “I was talking to Glen Powell near my table, and we were joking around about something. I lifted my arms up, and my boobs were just out. My dress fell apart,” she said. “We both screamed, and like the gentleman he is, he covered me. He didn’t look… I think. None of us were expecting that, but that dress had truly just given up.”
Despite the wardrobe mishap, Seyfried’s night was eventful. She won Best Actress in a Limited Series or Movie Made for Television for The Dropout. Powell, who was not nominated, attended the event, likely supporting Top Gun: Maverick, which had six nominations but did not win any awards.
Seyfried has remained busy beyond award season. During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, she performed Joni Mitchell’s “California” on a dulcimer, impressing viewers with her musical abilities. The performance sparked speculation among fans about Seyfried playing Mitchell in a biopic, though no such project has been confirmed.
Seyfried has several projects lined up. She stars in Long Bright River, a Peacock series about the opioid crisis, which premieres on March 13. She is also set to appear in The Housemaid, Ann Lee, and My Ex-Friend’s Wedding. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she expressed concerns about audience reach for her upcoming series, saying, “You always just hope that people want to see it. I’m worried people don’t have Peacock.”
