Prince Jackson made a rare public appearance at the Sydney premiere of MJ: The Musical on March 8. The production, which focuses on Michael Jackson’s preparation for his 1992 Dangerous World Tour, debuted on Broadway in 2021 and has since expanded to other locations, including London and now Australia.
Dressed in a navy blue pin-striped suit, Prince attended the event solo at the Lyric Theatre. His presence marked the second time he has attended a major premiere for the show, following his appearance at a London preview in 2024 alongside his siblings, Paris and Bigi.
MJ: The Musical is directed and choreographed by two-time Tony Award winner Christopher Wheeldon, with a book written by two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage. Elijah Rhea Johnson currently stars as Michael Jackson in the Broadway production.
Michael Jackson’s story will also be explored in the upcoming biopic Michael, produced by Graham King and written by John Logan. The film is being made with the cooperation of the co-executors of Jackson’s estate, John Branca and John McClain.
Prince has also launched an event called This is Thriller, which he announced on Instagram in June. The event will take place every five years at the Palace Theatre in Los Angeles to honor Michael Jackson’s influence on music and performance.
