Lucasfilm has announced that Star Wars: Visions will return to Disney+ on October 29 with a third volume. The new collection will include nine episodes and follow up on three shorts from the series’ first season: “The Duel,” “The Village Bride,” and “The Ninth Jedi.”

The announcement was made during a panel at Star Wars Celebration in Tokyo. Executive producer James Waugh confirmed that the new entries will continue stories introduced in Volume 1. Takanobu Mizuno will direct “The Duel: Payback” for Kamikaze Douga. Hitoshi Haga of Kinema Citrus will return for “The Lost Ones,” tied to “The Village Bride.” Naoyoshi Shiotani of Production I.G. will direct “Child of Hope,” the next installment in “The Ninth Jedi” storyline.

Waugh also introduced Star Wars: Visions Presents, a new project label that will include longer-form work. The first title under this label will be a full-length anime series based on “The Ninth Jedi,” scheduled to debut in 2026. Kenji Kamiyama, the creator of the original short, is returning to oversee the series, while Shiotani will focus on directing “Child of Hope.”

The new series will follow Lah Kara as she continues her search for her father and attempts to bring together scattered Jedi. While not part of Star Wars canon, the series will continue to build on the world introduced in the original short, including story elements related to kyber crystals and Jedi traditions.

Other shorts in Volume 3 were previewed during the panel. “Yuko’s Treasure,” directed by Masaki Tachibana, will feature a young protagonist and a large droid with a microwave built into its torso. “The Song of Four Wings,” from Hiroyasu Kobayashi of Project Studio Q, is based on the four engines of an X-Wing and incorporates mechanical designs inspired by early Star Wars artwork.

Waugh noted that the creative direction for Volume 3 again includes animation studios from Japan. “Visions is a concept that really came from a passion for the animated medium,” he said. He referenced the early creative influence of Japanese animation on Star Wars and said the new volume continues that relationship.
