The White Lotus composer Cristóbal Tapia de Veer won Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music at the 2025 Creative Arts Emmys, a music win for the series that arrives months after his public split with creator Mike White. The Television Academy’s night-one winners list credits Tapia de Veer with the honor for HBO/Max.
Tapia de Veer’s latest trophy follows a contentious spring in which he said he would exit the show ahead of season 4, describing creative clashes with White and a dispute over the season 3 theme’s arrangement. In April, he told interviewers the two had their “last fight forever,” and that he uploaded an alternate cut of the theme after pushback on removing the series’ signature wordless vocal line.
White later pushed back on the portrayal of their working relationship, saying on air that making the dispute public before the finale was “a ‘bitch move,’” while maintaining that he respected the composer’s talent.
The accolade adds to Tapia de Veer’s decorated run with the anthology, which previously earned him multiple Emmys for theme and score; with the new prize, he now holds four Emmys tied to the series, even as he does not plan to return for its next installment. Industry tallies of night-one results indicate The White Lotus secured only the main-title music category this weekend while other music fields went to Severance and The Penguin.
The win also underscores how central the music has been to the show’s identity since its 2021 debut, with Tapia de Veer blending regional instrumentation and processed vocals into a nervy sonic signature that became a cultural calling card. As season 4 moves into development, a successor for the score has not been announced.
