Sadie Sink is finding out about her future “X-Men” castmates the same way most fans are: through the rumor mill. The “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” actress said she’s being kept “a little bit separate” from the casting process for Cyclops, the role rumored to be heading to Kit Connor in Jake Schreier’s upcoming reboot. “So, I’m finding out through Jake,” Sink told Vanity Fair, referring to the director.
“There’s also so many online rumors, but it’s coming together.” She added that she considers the timing exciting and that the studio’s plan to introduce a major mutant through a Spider-Man film first strikes her as clever. Asked directly whether Connor had read for the role opposite her character, Sink demurred: “Did he?”

Sink made her Marvel debut as Jean Grey in “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” and confirmed she’ll head straight into “X-Men” filming once her schedule clears. “We’ll shoot X-Men, and then I’m going to do a series with FX and A24 called The Marriage Plot, so that’ll be next year,” she said, noting the shift in pace now that “Stranger Things” has wrapped. “It’ll feel weird next year not being like, Oh wait, we got to shoot another season,” she said, adding that she’s embracing the extra room in her schedule.
Sink spoke warmly about the character work ahead, describing the women of the X-Men universe as complex figures whose powers carry real emotional cost alongside their strength. She said starting Jean’s arc from a place of struggle, before the character grows into full command of her abilities, felt like the right entry point for the franchise.
