Because of the current wildfires in Los Angeles, Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, has asked to postpone the premiere of her new lifestyle series, “With Love, Meghan.” As Netflix revealed on Sunday, the show will now launch on March 4 rather than January 15.
Markle thanked Netflix for helping her postpone the launch so they could focus on supporting those affected by the California wildfires.
This decision comes as firefighters work to control strong fires that have killed 24 people and made over 100,000 residents leave their homes. Many people who left their homes still can’t return because emergency help is still happening there.
The eight-episode series is a loving tribute to the beauty of Southern California. In it, Markle shares food and gardening tips from her home in Montecito, about 80 miles north of Los Angeles. The show features hands-on lessons and talks with well-known guests like chef Roy Choi, actress Mindy Kaling, and food innovator Alice Waters.
This series is part of a five-year, $100 million deal that Markle and Prince Harry made with Netflix in 2020. Reports say the couple is helping with wildfire relief by welcoming friends who had to evacuate into their homes and donating goods to those in need.
Markle, raised in Los Angeles, has deep links to the area. Her decision to delay the show’s premiere demonstrates her awareness of the ongoing crisis in her hometown, where emergency services are still battling fires and looking for missing people.
