Actor Adrien Brody captured the Best Actor award at the 2025 Critics Choice Awards for his powerful performance in “The Brutalist,” a historical drama about a Jewish architect’s journey after the Holocaust.

Brody defeated a strong lineup of actors including Daniel Craig, Timothée Chalamet, and others to win the prestigious award. His portrayal of László Tóth, a Hungarian-born architect who emigrates to the United States, was praised by critics and industry professionals.

During the February 7th ceremony hosted by Chelsea Handler, the 51-year-old actor reflected on the rarity of such career moments. “I’ve been doing this since I was 12, and these moments are far and few between in an actor’s life,” Brody told the audience.

In an emotional acceptance speech, Brody thanked multiple supporters, including his film’s crew, cast, and studio A24. He also acknowledged his longtime partner Georgina Chapman and his parents, stating, “I could not be here without you.”

The film, directed by Brady Corbet, has already garnered significant recognition, winning Best Motion Picture Drama at the Golden Globes. Its nine Critics Choice Award nominations, including a Best Supporting Actor nod for Guy Pearce, underscore its critical success.

Brody’s win represents more than personal achievement. It celebrates a nuanced portrayal of resilience and transformation, highlighting an important historical narrative through powerful storytelling.
