Deal season is in full swing and many gamers decided to spend some of what they had saved at GameStop this week.

Nevertheless, they got an unpleasant surprise, as the store apparently leaked information about its customers in its online store.

Various people used social networks and forums to reveal something alarming: when they log into their GameStop accounts, they are able to see other people’s information and orders.

What is worrying is that the site reveals confidential customer data and, until now, there has been no explanation from the company.

GameStop Customers Warn About Data Breach

“Every time I update my account, I see other people’s information and orders, even the address, is this real?” warned a customer trying to buy some games for his collection.

Her message set off alerts for many, since the page revealed names, address, email, birth date and purchases of several customers.

The community recommended to all users of the online store to unlink their payment method until further notice.

This as a precautionary measure to avoid possible unrecognized charges or possible scams. They also recommended editing confidential information for obvious reasons.

It appears that people’s payment information was not completely leaked in most cases, but the last digits of the cards used in past transactions were at least shown.

GameStop website was tripping out and kept hopping me between a couple dozen different profiles. The name at the top of the screen kept changing, the items in the cart, and the Pro Rewards points. Thought I was being hella hacked but the GS app seems to be stable

— J.D. (@JDKendall18) November 26, 2022

In a few cases, cardholders were able to see the full card numbers. Players claim that they had access to the data of approximately 4 or 5 different people from their accounts.

“The GameStop website was crashing and I came up with a couple dozen different profiles. The name at the top of the screen kept changing, the items in the cart and the Pro Rewards points. I thought I was being hacked, but the GameStop app seems to be stable,” said another affected customer.

As mentioned, GameStop has not commented on the issue at this time. More people are sharing information about the case, so we will surely know something about this leak in the next few hours.

It is not the first time GameStop has had problems with its customers’ information, as it has previously been sued for allegedly storing and sharing customer data without permission.
