Hogwarts Legacy has been making waves in the gaming industry for the past few weeks, but unfortunately, not for positive reasons. The controversy surrounding JK Rowling’s transphobic statements has sparked a heated debate about boycotting the game.
Adding to the disappointment of fans, it has now been revealed that the iconic Chamber of Secrets will not be included in the game.
Recently, publisher Warner Bros. and developer Avalanche Studios were faced with a severe leak of information regarding Hogwarts Legacy. Among the details leaked were the game’s playing time and story elements.
Now, another piece of information has emerged from a pre-release artbook, and it’s likely to be a bitter pill for fans to swallow.
According to the artbook, the famous Chamber of Secrets will remain closed and inaccessible in the game. This is a major disappointment for fans, as the Chamber of Secrets plays a significant role in the second book and film. It’s clear that the developers made a deliberate decision to exclude this aspect of the story from Hogwarts Legacy.
Deep within the chamber lies the ominous Obelisk, a formidable presence that has become infamous among fans of the Harry Potter series. However, in Hogwarts Legacy, the game takes place approximately 100 years prior to the events of the books.
According to a leaked document, the developers encountered some difficulties and ultimately decided not to include the Obelisk in the game. They emphasized that they did not want to mislead players into believing they could destroy an Obelisk that wouldn’t exist for another century.
While this explanation makes sense and may help to ease the disappointment of some fans, it’s worth noting that the success of Hogwarts Legacy is far from in jeopardy.
Despite the ongoing controversy surrounding JK Rowling’s anti-trans statements and calls for a boycott, the game continues to top the bestseller charts. For every fan who chooses to boycott the game, it seems that another is eager to purchase it.
