Netflix Sets June Slate With Avatar, Jennifer Lopez and World Cup Programming

Netflix’s June slate mixes major licensed films, star-led originals and World Cup-timed sports programming as streamers compete for summer attention.

Netflix enters June with one of its busiest monthly slates of 2026, pairing high-recognition library titles with originals built around romance, crime, fantasy and soccer. The lineup, now confirmed in the streamer’s own calendar, places Jennifer Lopez, Brett Goldstein, Harlan Coben, the live-action Avatar team and a batch of World Cup-related programs in front of subscribers during a month when rival services are also fighting for summer attention.

The first wave leans heavily on familiar films. The Big Lebowski, Bee Movie, the Creed trilogy, Rocky Balboa, Poor Things, Percy Jackson titles, Funny People and Piece by Piece give Netflix a deep bench of licensed movies across the month. TV library additions include Grey’s Anatomy Season 22, Resident Alien Season 4, Shrill and The Last Ship, keeping the service stocked with comfort viewing between larger originals.

The biggest scripted swings arrive across three weeks. Office Romance lands June 5, with Lopez playing a powerful airline CEO opposite Goldstein as the company’s new lawyer. I Will Find You follows June 18, turning Coben’s 2023 novel into an eight-episode thriller led by Sam Worthington, Britt Lower and Milo Ventimiglia. The story centers on a father serving life for killing his son, then receiving evidence that the child may still be alive.

Avatar: The Last Airbender returns June 25 with Season 2, a key test for Netflix’s live-action fantasy franchise after the series earned a two-season renewal. Executive producers Christine Boylan and Jabbar Raisani said the new season will tackle “deeper, more complicated relationships” and bring “real-world versions of iconic scenes” from the animated series. The season sends Aang, Katara and Sokka into the Earth Kingdom, with Miyako joining as Toph and Daniel Dae Kim back as Fire Lord Ozai.

Netflix is also timing part of the slate to the 2026 World Cup. USA 94: Brazil’s Return to Glory, Norway: The Dark Horse, Poldi, Mexico 86 and a FIFA game entry reflect a clear sports push as global soccer attention rises. A Netflix executive told the Los Angeles Times that earlier soccer programming tied to Argentina proved “massive,” pointing to the streamer’s belief that tournament fever can move audiences beyond live matches.

Some analysts see June as a lighter battleground for streamers because the World Cup will dominate viewing habits. Netflix’s answer is volume, recognizable stars and international programming designed to keep subscribers opening the app while the biggest spectacle in entertainment happens elsewhere.
