Bryce Dettloff and Trinity Tatum walked away with the $100,000 grand prize Sunday night as “Love Island USA” crowned its season eight winners, capping a run that delivered the franchise’s biggest premiere numbers to date on Peacock. Host Ariana Madix announced the result after viewers cast votes during a four-hour window following the finale broadcast.
The pair beat out three other finalist couples: runners-up Aniya Harvey and Carl Schmidt, third-place finishers Melanie Moreno and Sincere Rhea, and fourth-place couple Kayda Bosse and Zach Georgiou. Tatum, 22, and Dettloff, who turned 30 inside the villa, coupled up on the show’s June 2 premiere but spent much of the season navigating uncertainty about their age gap and mismatched dating histories before solidifying their relationship.
Their bond faced its sharpest test during Casa Amor, the show’s mid-season stretch that introduces new islanders to challenge existing couples, when both briefly explored connections with other contestants before recommitting to each other.
“I feel like I’m in a dream right now,” an emotional Dettloff said after the announcement. Tatum, in tears, added that she never expected to end up in that position, and the two exchanged declarations of love during their final on-camera moments together.
Sunday’s broadcast also carried weight beyond the competition itself. Peacock confirmed that the “Love Island USA” reunion special will air Aug. 31, again hosted by Madix alongside Andy Cohen, and that spinoff series “Love Island: Beyond the Villa” has been renewed for a third season set to premiere in 2027.
The season drew attention for reasons beyond its central romances. Contestants Alannah Keyser and Vasana Montgomery were removed from the villa after old social media posts using a racial slur resurfaced publicly; both later issued apologies. Madix, reflecting on the show’s continued growth ahead of the finale, credited the casting team’s ability to manufacture unpredictable chemistry among strangers thrown together with no prior interaction, calling it the difference between her show and scripted romance formats.
All 33 episodes of the season are available for streaming on Peacock.
