“Love Island USA” is heading back to the reunion couch, and host Ariana Madix says the footage held back until now will settle scores viewers never got to see play out.
The Season 8 reunion, filmed August 10 in front of a live audience, streams on Peacock Monday, August 31 at 9 p.m. ET. Madix told Entertainment Weekly that cast members arrived with plenty on their minds. “Everybody came there ready to say exactly how they feel, and if they had a chip on their shoulder or something they wanted to bring up, they were ready to come and talk about it,” she said. The conversations, she added, spun off in different directions depending on the couple or the incident being revisited, but ultimately gave the season the sendoff it needed.
What sets this reunion apart, according to Madix, is the volume of material that never aired during the regular run. She described a “lot of unseen footage” that resolved lingering questions for the Islanders themselves, some of whom found out details about their own summer in real time alongside the audience. “That was really interesting for me because I only got to see it for the first time as well,” Madix said.
Andy Cohen returns alongside Madix as co-host, continuing the pairing that has anchored the last two reunion specials. The Season 8 cast reuniting includes winners Trinity Tatum and Bryce Alakai, along with Aniya Harvey, Melanie Moreno, Kayda Bosse, Dylan Wrona, Kenzie Annis, Corbin Mims, Caleb McDaniel, Tierra “Titi” Davis and KC Chandler. Early standouts Beatriz Hatz and Sol Dean also appeared, as did Sean Reifel, the season’s first Islander sent home.
The eighth season became a ratings phenomenon for Peacock, racking up nearly 19 billion minutes viewed and standing as the streamer’s most-watched original series to date. That success has turned the reunion into appointment viewing in its own right, following a format that has grown more elaborate each summer, mixing extended challenge footage with pointed questions about which villa romances survived contact with the outside world.
