Amazon Prime Video is already building out season five of “Reacher” before the fourth batch of episodes has even reached audiences, confirming four new cast additions Tuesday just two weeks ahead of the season four premiere.
Amanda Ip, Jay Baruchel, Ciara Bravo and Kevin Durand will join star Alan Ritchson for a fifth season adapted from Lee Child’s novel “Make Me,” which sends Reacher’s train to an unsettling stop in the town of Mother’s Rest, where he partners with a private investigator investigating a disappearance that spirals into something far more dangerous.
Ip will play Michelle Chang, Baruchel takes on the role of Chief Buck Bauer, Bravo plays a character named Eunice, and Durand will portray Nokes. The casting news arrives as Prime Video ramps up promotion for season four, which premieres August 12 with a three-episode launch adapted from Child’s “Gone Tomorrow.”
That story follows Reacher after a chance subway encounter with a distressed stranger pulls him into a sprawling conspiracy involving federal agents and foreign operatives, with production this time relocating the action to Philadelphia rather than the novel’s original New York City setting.
Ritchson has described the upcoming season as the show’s most physically demanding yet, telling reporters ahead of release that the production filmed more fight sequences than in any previous year. Prime Video renewed the series for season five before season four had even debuted, a move that underscores the franchise’s standing as one of the platform’s most reliable performers since its 2022 launch. The streamer is pairing the season four finale on September 16 with the premiere of “Neagley,” a spinoff built around Maria Sten’s recurring character, marking the franchise’s first expansion beyond its central lead.
The new season five cast members bring varied credentials to the production. Baruchel, known for “This Is the End” and voicing Hiccup in the “How to Train Your Dragon” franchise, next appears in “The Stunt Driver” ahead of its Toronto International Film Festival premiere.
