In a surprising turn of events, the search for the new voice of Mario has come to an end, and it’s not Chris Pratt. After the departure of the iconic Charles Martinet from the role, speculation ran wild about who would step into the Italian plumber’s shoes.
Now, it’s official: Mario and Luigi will be voiced by none other than Kevin Afghani in the upcoming Super Mario Bros. Wonder game. While it’s confirmed for this release, the future of his role in the franchise remains uncertain.

The announcement couldn’t have come at a more opportune moment, just a week before the highly-anticipated launch of Super Mario Bros. Wonder. Nintendo itself confirmed Kevin Afghani’s casting, putting an end to the speculation that had surrounded the character’s new voice.
Doug Bowser, not to be confused with the Koopa King, had previously hinted that the actor’s identity would be revealed close to the game’s release. Interestingly, data-miners, as reported by Kotaku, managed to uncover the cast list ahead of time through demos available at various Target locations.
Kevin Afghani may not have an extensive list of credits to his name, but his previous work is notable. His most prominent role, according to IMDb, is that of Arnold in Genshin Impact. Additionally, he has contributed to YouTube skits for the video game-based animation channel MASHED.
