In a wave of thrilling leaks, a reliable source known for revealing early PlayStation Plus lineups has now disclosed exciting details about the release of the PlayStation 5 Slim in the U.S. Alongside this revelation, a tempting bundle featuring Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2 has also surfaced.

Billbil-kun, the leaker in question, recently shared on the French website Dealabs that the standard edition of the PS5 Slim, packaged with Spider-Man 2, is scheduled to hit the U.S. market on November 8, carrying a price tag of $559.99. Interestingly, this price mirrors that of the current standard edition PS5 bundled with Spider-Man 2, adding an attractive incentive for potential buyers.

Additionally, Billbil-kun hinted at a release date of November 10 for both the standard and digital versions of the PS5 Slim in the United States. This suggests the possibility of a staggered release, with the Spider-Man 2 bundle making its debut ahead of the standalone launch of the new console.

The PS5 Slim boasts a more compact design and offers 1TB of storage capacity for both the PS5 and PS5 Digital Edition, a significant upgrade from the 825GB available in the original models. Notably, this new model introduces the option to attach an Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive to the PS5 Digital Edition, catering to the diverse preferences of gamers.

Sid Shuman, Senior Director of Communications at Sony Interactive Entertainment, emphasized the motivation behind this new PS5, stating that it was designed “to address the evolving needs of players.” He further explained that the engineering and design teams collaborated to create a smaller form factor while retaining the cutting-edge technology that makes the PS5 an exceptional gaming console.

The new PS5 model showcases a remarkable reduction in volume by over 30% and a weight decrease of 18% and 24% in comparison to the previous versions. Its design features four separate cover panels, with the upper section presenting a glossy finish, while the lower portion maintains a matte appearance.

For those opting for the PS5 Digital Edition, the Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive for PS5 can be added separately at a cost of $79.99 | €119.99 | £99.99 | 11,980 JPY. Once the existing PS5 model inventory is exhausted, the new PS5 will become the exclusive option available.

The retail prices for the new PS5 model, scheduled for release in November, are as follows:

In the U.S.:

  • PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive – $499.99
  • PS5 Digital Edition – $449.99

In Europe:

  • PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive – 549.99 EUR
  • PS5 Digital Edition – 449.99 EUR

In the UK:

  • PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive – £479.99
  • PS5 Digital Edition – £389.99

In Japan:

  • PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive – 66,980 JPY (includes tax)
  • PS5 Digital Edition – 59,980 JPY (includes tax)

PlayStation 5 Slim

It’s worth noting that the price of the PS5 Digital model has increased with the introduction of the slimmer version. The original PS5 Digital Edition was priced at $399.99, while the new PS5 Slim Digital Edition costs $449.99. Consequently, the slimmer PS5 with a disc drive is $50 more expensive than the slimmer PS5 Digital Edition.

To accommodate the new PS5 model, a horizontal stand is included. Additionally, a vertical stand, compatible with all PS5 models, will be available for purchase separately, priced at $29.99 | €29.99 | £24.99 | 3,980 JPY.

These revelations have sparked excitement and anticipation among gamers, and as the release date draws nearer, players can look forward to a new, sleeker version of the PlayStation 5, enriched with enhanced storage capacity and design improvements.
