Legendary Resurgence: Pokemon Go's Awaited Update in January 2024

In a development that has stirred excitement among the Pokemon Go community, players will finally have the opportunity to complete the long-standing “Season of Legends” Special Research challenge in January 2024. This challenge, which has been an unresolved quest for many trainers for three years, involves the Legendary Forces of Nature trio: Landorus, Tornadus, and Thundurus.

The Special Research challenge in Pokemon Go is designed to allow trainers ample time to complete quests at their own pace. However, for a significant number of players, the requirement to take snapshots of the Legendary Pokemon Landorus, Tornadus, and Thundurus proved to be a substantial roadblock. Many in the community found themselves unable to capture Landorus or the subsequent Legendaries, leaving their quests incomplete for years.

This situation took a turn for the better when a Reddit user, ‘Affectionate-Guess25,’ posted about the upcoming January 2024 Pokemon Go events, highlighting that the Legendary trio would be featured in Raids.

This news was met with enthusiasm from players who had been stuck on the quest, with one Reddit user exclaiming, “OMG WHAT FINALLY!!!” and another humorously noting the long wait: “It’s been 10’000 years but maybe I’ll be able to take a snapshot of Landorus.”

The conversation among players further revealed that capturing Thundurus and Tornadus would be crucial for completing subsequent parts of the research line, prompting a user to advise: “So catch them if you can so you can get snapshots of them after.”

Solo Players and the Raid Challenge

One of the challenges that hindered many players from completing the tasks was the Raid-centric nature of capturing these Legendaries. A user shared their experience, noting the difficulty faced by solo players in participating in Raids and the eventual need to purchase remote raid passes to progress in the quest.

Beyond just completing the Season of Legends Research, the return of these Legendaries in Raids presents a valuable opportunity for players interested in Player vs. Player (PvP) and Player vs. Environment (PvE) aspects of the game. As one player pointed out, the availability of these Legendary Pokemon is beneficial for maintaining a healthy meta in the game.

January 2024 marks a significant moment for Pokemon Go players, especially those who have been eagerly waiting to complete the Season of Legends Special Research. The return of the Legendary trio not only resolves a long-standing challenge but also invigorates the game’s meta for PvP and PvE enthusiasts.
