Fans of Marvel movies got a big surprise recently. Blake Lively has been unveiled as the actress playing Lady Deadpool in the new “Deadpool & Wolverine” film! For months, people have been guessing about who was behind that brief glimpse we saw of the character in the trailer.
You may know Blake from shows like “Gossip Girl” or movies like “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.” But did you also know she’s married to Ryan Reynolds, who we all know plays Deadpool? Blake shared the whole crazy story of how she ended up with this secret role.
Get this – back in 2010 when they were filming “Green Lantern” together, Ryan first told Blake and their co-star Taika Waititi all about Deadpool. He described how weird and funny the character is, breaking the rules of normal superhero movies. At the time, a Deadpool movie sounded impossible.
Meanwhile, the creator of Deadpool was drawing pictures of Lady Deadpool without her mask on. Can you believe he based what she looked like on Blake’s character from “Gossip Girl” without even realizing she knew Ryan?
Fast forward over a decade, and it turns out all those separate things were leading to Blake playing Lady Deadpool now! “The universe has a funny way sometimes,” she said.
From what we know so far, Lady Deadpool is a female version of the character from another reality who fights against bad guys. Blake also shouted out the director Shawn Levy, thanking him for including her.
