People will be interested in a new Malaysian-Singaporean movie that mixes magic and crime, which starts filming this month. Adrian Teh directed “Magik Rompak,” which began shooting on November 9th with a budget of RM13 million. The movie promises to be a one-of-a-kind cinematic experience that combines high-stakes theft with theatrical illusion.

The movie is about a master magician who puts together an odd group of people to pull off a complicated heist involving a valuable gem. At its heart, the story looks at its characters’ complicated relationships and shared pasts as they try to pull off a daring crime.

Sharnaaz Ahmad and Zul Ariffin, new to acting after recent box-office hits, are in charge of the group. In 2023, Ahmad’s “Polis Evo 3” made RM54 million ($12.3 million), and this year, Ariffin’s “Sheriff” made RM62 million ($14.1 million).

Miller Khan, Fabian Loo, and well-known actors Amelia Henderson, Yasmin Hani, and Elvina Mohamad are also in the group. Another great actor in the group is Singaporean veteran Tay Ping Hui.

ACT 2 Pictures in Malaysia and Clover Films in Singapore worked together on this project. Executive directors May Woo, Paulyn Chua and Lim Teck, are running the 50-day shoot. It will all take place in Malaysia, with some of the most important scenes being shot at Iskandar Malaysia Studios in Johor.

“The fusion of magic and heist elements offers audiences an entirely fresh cinematic experience,” Teh told us. He is both the director and CEO of ACT 2 Pictures and is trying out new ways to film to make scenes look amazing.

This is the thirteenth time that Teh and Clover Films have worked together. “Adrian has become one of Malaysia’s best directors,” Lim Teck, the founder of Clover Films, said, showing faith in the project.

Distribution is set. GSC will release the movie in theaters in Malaysia, and Clover and GV will handle distribution in Singapore. Clover Films will be in charge of foreign sales, setting up “Magik Rompak” to possibly be popular worldwide.
