The director of the Silent Hill movie is currently at work on a new project set in Konami’s dark universe. Speaking during an interview with a French website, he revealed a surprising number of things about the future of the brand and the games to be developed.
The key piece of information that emerged from Christophe Gans’ words is that several games in the Silent Hill series are actually being developed.
Although he himself is not in any way involved in the production, he is working on the new film with several people who are currently engaged in resurrecting the brand.
With this, the director has confirmed rumors that have been floating around for quite some time about the games.
The other good news is the identity of these people. They are to include members of Team Silent, the original team in charge of the first games in the series.
In Gans’ opinion, Silent Hill has a “bright future” ahead of it, with the active participation of the original creators in the development of new productions likely to be a sign of that.
Furthermore, the director mentioned that although he has met many familiar faces from his time of shooting the first film, he is unaware of anything about Hideo Kojima’s alleged involvement in the development of the new games. In his opinion, the head of Kojima Productions has little to do with Konami’s ongoing ventures.
Team Silent was dissolved after the release of Silent Hill 4: The Room. The series has changed hands since then, with mixed results.
However, the games from under the hand of the original team – parts one through four – are generally considered the best of the series.
