Polyphony Digital has been considering bringing the Gran Turismo series to PC, in the words of Kazunori Yamauchi, Sony’s studio boss, during an interview with GTPlanet granted during the franchise’s 25th anniversary celebration event.
When asked if Polyphony Digital would ever consider bringing its flagship series to PC, Mr. Yamauchi said, “Yes, I think so.”
However apparently this is not a decision the studio will take lightly and there are many aspects to consider.
“Gran Turismo is a very polished title,” Yamauchi explained. “There are not many platforms that can run the game in 4K/60fps natively, so one way to make it possible is to narrow down the platform range. It’s not a very easy topic, but we’re obviously looking into it and considering it.”
Possible porting of Gran Turismo 7 to PC would undoubtedly be big news, since we are talking about one of Sony’s most celebrated IPs, but it wouldn’t be all that surprising.

In fact, over the past few years we have seen more and more franchises from PlayStation Studios landing on PC, such as Marvel’s Spider-Man from Insomaniac Games, Santa Monica’s God of War (2018), Naughty Dog’s Uncharted, and Guerrilla Games’ Horizon Zero Dawn. In addition, the next on the list will be Returnal, per some clues in the Steam database.
Having said that, from Yamauchi’s words it would appear that Polyphony Digital is not actively working on a PC porting of Gran Turismo 7 at the moment, though we doubt that this is information he will let slip out lightly during an interview.
In the meantime, the game’s post-launch support continues, with Patch 1.26 introducing the ability to sell cars, a new circuit and four cars.
