In just over a year since its release, Elden Ring has impressively sold around 20.5 million copies. This figure was revealed in an investor report discovered by an alert user of the ResetEra forum and subsequently reported by Eurogamer.
“Sales performance of existing titles such as Elden Ring remained robust, particularly in international markets, culminating in worldwide sales of 20.5 million,” Bandai Namco notes in the report. The publisher further anticipates a slowdown in the recurrent sales of the game.
However, if Elden Ring continues its sales momentum and manages to sell a few million more copies, it will secure a place among the best-selling games of all time. This prestigious list includes prominent titles like God of War (2018) and Grand Theft Auto V.
A Year of Unprecedented Success for Elden Ring
This significant milestone was achieved a year after Elden Ring set a new record for the most successful opening for a FromSoftware title. In the short span of 18 days, Bandai Namco successfully sold more than 12 million copies of the action RPG, a figure that far exceeded the initial expectations of selling about 4 million copies within the first five days.
The continued strong sales performance of Elden Ring is a promising indicator for FromSoftware’s upcoming game, Armored Core VI. Scheduled to be released this coming August, the game will mark the first entry in the Armored Core series in almost a decade.
