Netflix’s The Witcher series has been a hit among fans, and now, viewers are preparing to bid farewell to Henry Cavill’s portrayal of the iconic Geralt of Rivia. The initial episode of the second part of Season 3 has already left some lucky ones thrilled, but for others, the transition is bittersweet.
The next two seasons will see Liam Hemsworth take on the role of Geralt, leaving the community in mixed emotions. However, it seems like the changes are not the only challenge ahead.
Setback for The Witcher Season 4
According to Redanian Intelligence, a reliable source for The Witcher news, filming for Season 4 has been postponed to 2024. Earlier, casting director Sophie Holland mentioned that filming for Season 4 with Liam Hemsworth was about to commence, followed by a short hiatus before Season 5.
The postponement, however, is unrelated to the ongoing writers’ strike, which started in May. Unfortunately, fans who have been eagerly anticipating a new season since October 2022 will now have to wait even longer.
Patience Required: The Witcher Season 4 Delayed
The delay in filming indicates that The Witcher Season 4 won’t be hitting screens before 2025. This prolonged wait may be disheartening for some, but it does provide those who are not ready to let go of Henry Cavill’s Geralt more time to adjust to the inevitable change.
As fans cope with the departure of Henry Cavill, rumors about Season 4 continue to circulate. The production team is reportedly seeking a Hollywood star to embody the cult character Régis, who will make his first appearance alongside Liam Hemsworth in the upcoming season.
Sophie Holland’s earlier remarks hinted at a mix of familiar and new faces in Season 4, including the new Geralt de Riv. Furthermore, whispers of an episode centered around an unknown group have piqued curiosity.
A Bittersweet Return
With Henry Cavill’s exit, fans have faced uncertainty about the show’s future. Producer Lauren Hissrich had previously acknowledged that The Witcher could have ended after a certain point, making the series’ continuation all the more bittersweet for dedicated viewers.
As the fans brace themselves for Season 4, they await a journey filled with emotions, surprises, and new challenges that lie ahead for The Witcher series.
