While the game did not require a major day one update, it did launch with some bothersome settings enabled by default, leaving players unable to disable them. This new patch aims to rectify those issues and offers several improvements that players will appreciate.
Customize Motion Blur to Your Preference
The highlight of this patch is the introduction of a motion blur setting. Players can now adjust the strength of motion blur according to their preference. By default, the game’s motion blur was set to a maximum value of 5, which could be particularly intense when playing in performance mode.
However, with the new patch, players have the freedom to reduce the value all the way down to zero, effectively turning off motion blur entirely.
Disable Camera Follow and Expand Sensitivity Options
Another aspect that contributed to the perception of motion blur was the game’s constant camera follow. Previously, the camera would always recenter itself around the character, even during regular exploration.
This continuous correction of camera movement often caused discomfort for sensitive players, compounded by the presence of motion blur. Fortunately, patch 1.03 introduces the option to disable camera follow both during combat and normal movement.
Furthermore, the patch expands camera settings with a wider sensitivity scale. Players can now adjust both horizontal and vertical sensitivity, with the new maximum value reaching 20, compared to the previous limit of 10. This change allows players to fine-tune their camera controls to suit their preferences more accurately.
Enhanced Controller Layouts and Menu Fixes
Players who were dissatisfied with the existing control schemes or those awaiting additional options will be pleased to discover that Final Fantasy 16 now offers three new controller layouts: D, E, and F. Although complete remapping is not yet available, the addition of these layouts provides more choices to cater to diverse playstyles.
Additionally, the patch addresses various menu-related issues that some players encountered, such as unresponsiveness and lag when switching pages. These improvements ensure a smoother navigation experience within the game’s menus.
Since its release, Final Fantasy 16 has achieved over 3 million units sold and shipped digitally. While this figure may not be the highest in the series, it is worth noting that the game is currently available on a single platform, which makes this achievement noteworthy.
