Exciting news for adventurers and fans of Baldur’s Gate 3! The game has now officially earned the coveted “Verified” status for Steam Deck, marking a significant advancement from its initial launch where certain limitations were in place.

This new development signifies that the game is now fully functional with the default controller and graphics settings of the Steam Deck.

The ability to play Baldur’s Gate 3 on the Steam Deck existed even before this milestone. However, players encountered minor hiccups, such as the game’s inclination to use the Larian Launcher when the device wasn’t connected to a network. This occasionally necessitated utilizing the touchscreen and, at times, the keyboard for logging in.

Smoother Experience: A Recommendation and Solution

Fortunately, players have found a workaround by utilizing the ‘–skip-launcher’ launch option within the game’s properties in Steam. This approach has effectively alleviated the concerns stemming from the Larian Launcher.

Additionally, in certain instances of the game, text input prompts did not consistently trigger the Steam Deck’s keyboard, requiring players to manually invoke it.

The tides have turned, and Baldur’s Gate 3 now stands as fully compatible with the Steam Deck. The positive news doesn’t end here, as Larian Studios plans to elevate the compatibility even further.

An impending update will bring FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.2 support to the game, timed to coincide with the PS5 launch in early September.

Visual Advancements Await: FSR 2.2 on the Horizon

At present, the game supports the initial generation of FidelityFX Super Resolution. However, enthusiasts will appreciate the forthcoming upgrade to FSR 2.2. This advanced version promises enhanced visual fidelity, taking gameplay immersion to new heights.

As Baldur’s Gate 3 continues its journey, the achievement of full compatibility for the Steam Deck signals a more seamless and enriched gaming experience for fans.
