Reports are circulating about a potential PlayStation 5 version of “The Last of Us Part 2,” sparking excitement among fans of the critically acclaimed game. The PlayStation Game Size social media account, known for its reliable leaks, recently noted the addition of a PS5 version of the game to the PlayStation Network’s database.
This development has reignited discussions and speculations about a native port, especially considering that while the game received enhancements for the PS5 in 2021, it was not a native version.

Rumors and Hints of a Remastered Edition
Adding to the speculation, a “remastered” version of “The Last of Us Part 2” was mentioned on the LinkedIn profile of a Naughty Dog developer last month. This hint, along with comments from the game’s composer, Gustavo Santaolalla, has further fueled expectations.
Santaolalla, in a July interview, alluded to “new editions” of the 2020 sequel and intriguingly mentioned that players might be able to interact with his cameo character in Jackson in these new editions.
Following a Familiar Path
If a native PS5 version of “The Last of Us Part 2” is indeed in the works, it would mirror the journey of the original game. “The Last of Us” first appeared on the PlayStation 3 before being remastered for the PS4 and eventually getting a PS5 release as “The Last of Us Part 1.”
Such a progression for its sequel would be a welcome addition for fans seeking to experience the game with enhanced graphics and performance on the latest console.
Potential Casting News for HBO’s Adaptation
In related news, the HBO adaptation of “The Last of Us” seems to be considering Kaitlyn Dever, known for her role as Cassie Drake in “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End,” for the character Abby in the show’s upcoming second season.
Dever, who had previously auditioned for the role of Ellie, is reportedly in talks for this significant part, adding to the anticipation surrounding the television adaptation.
