After much speculation, it appears that the critically acclaimed limited series Beef will be back for a second season on Netflix. According to sources close to the production, creator and showrunner Lee Sung Jin has been developing scripts and storylines for a potential Season 2 over the past several months.
Though the first season of Beef was originally promoted as a limited series and had a fairly conclusive ending, the massive success of the show seems to have paved the way for its continuation.
Season 1 of Beef centered on the contentious relationship between two unhappy couples following a fateful road rage encounter. Hathaway and Gyllenhaal have demonstrated fantastic on-screen chemistry before in 2010’s Love & Other Drugs, so their involvement would surely excite fans. Melton has been generating buzz for his turn in Netflix’s May December, while Spaney caught attention with her role as Priscilla Presley in Sofia Coppola’s biopic Priscilla. Both of these rising talents already have established relationships with Netflix and A24 that could make for a seamless transition to Beef.
