Amazon’s hit series Reacher looks primed to return sooner than expected with a potentially expedited season 3. Star Alan Ritchson recently revealed that filming is already nearing completion, despite season 2 having just concluded in January.
Speaking on The Tonight Show, Ritchson delivered the exciting update that production on season 3 is almost wrapped. This remarkably swift filming timeline could allow season 3 to debut later this year, rather than in 2024 as many anticipated.
Ritchson has been providing regular social media updates from the season 3 set, which kicked off late last year. The new episodes will adapt Lee Child’s Reacher novel Persuader, sending Ritchson’s Jack Reacher undercover in Maine. Ritchson has praised the book as “a gripping, skillful blend of spies and non-stop action.”
Amazon seems intent on capitalizing on Reacher’s momentum rather than keep fans waiting. The show broke Prime Video records upon its 2022 launch and recently landed Golden Globe and Critics Choice Award nominations. Yet Ritchson admitted his casting was initially controversial given he doesn’t match the imposing 6’5″ physicality of Child’s novels.
Nonetheless, Ritchson’s charisma and physicality as a former football player won over skeptical fans. With two hit seasons under Reacher’s belt, Amazon apparently wants to strike again while the iron is hot.
