Mark your calendars mech fans, as Bandai Namco has finally revealed the release date for the highly anticipated Gundam Breaker 4. The latest entry in the beloved mech building/battling franchise will deploy onto PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam on August 29th, 2023.

Pre-orders for the launch edition of the game are already live across major retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, Target and GameStop. Securing this initial print run will net players some exclusive bonuses like a collectible poster, reversible cover art, and some helpful in-game builder parts and color palettes.

Bandai Namco unveiled the August 29th date today in a new goofy trailer sure to turn heads with its intentionally over-the-top voiceover work. The campy live-action vignettes play out like an uproariously enthusiastic late-night infomercial selling the mobile suit creation and destruction on offer.

Once it arrives, Gundam Breaker 4 will give players an unprecedented level of customization with over 250 base Gunpla model kits to build their ultimate mech warriors from. After constructing their mobile suit masterpices down to the smallest detail, pilots can then take them into intense online and offline battles.

The action promises to be appropriately frenetic, with players able to target and destroy specific components on enemy units to “break” them apart and claim new parts to incorporate in their next Gunpla design iteration.

In a nice quality-of-life upgrade, all the model building and battling action takes place digitally – meaning no more stray plastic shrapnel littering floors or attempting to find space to display a sprawling physical collection.

GUNDAM BREAKER 4

Visually, the title looks impressive with an array of iconic and fan-favorite mobile suit designs like the Strike Freedom, Victory, and classic RX-78 Gundam machines all playable and customizable. Diorama display options also allow for detailed snapshots with numerous background options.

Gundam Breaker 4 represents a major bounce-back opportunity for the franchise after the disappointing New Gundam Breaker entry in 2018 missed the mark for die-hard mech enthusiasts. With a staggering amount of build options and intense action, this newest edition could easily reaffirm the series’ standing as the premier virtual Gunpla battleground when it deploys at the end of summer.
