You guys aren’t gonna believe this – a sequel to my favorite movie is actually happening! Yeah, you heard me right. Disney just announced that The Devil Wears Prada is getting a follow-up movie. I’m like super pumped about this news.
The legendary Meryl Streep is coming back to play Miranda Priestly, the super scary but totally awesome fashion magazine editor. Apparently on her Instagram, Streep posted a picture of Miranda with the caption “she’s back!” This sent the internet into a total frenzy. Can you imagine how awesome it’s gonna be to see her in action again?
While the first movie focused on new assistant Andy Sachs and her time working for Miranda, this sequel is supposed to look at what Miranda’s been up to since then. Apparently the magazine industry has really changed a lot in the past few years with stuff going digital. The rumor is Miranda is trying to save her career after her print magazine starts struggling.
They also might bring back Emily Blunt as Emily Charlton, who was Andy’s coworker. But get this – people are saying Emily might now work at some fancy advertising company and be competing against Miranda! That sounds like it could lead to some drama between them. I hope Anne Hathaway comes back too as Andy, but nothing is set in stone yet.
A lot of the original people involved in the first movie seem to be signed on again. The same director and writers are working on the sequel. Even some of the other actors like Stanley Tucci might come back. With everyone who made the first one so great involved, I have high hopes this follow-up will be just as good.
No word yet on when we’ll actually get to see it, but the fact that it’s in the works at all is getting me really hyped. While we wait for more details, at least the first Devil Wears Prada is still available to watch on Hulu. Now we get to spend the summer wondering – what will Miranda be wearing this time around?
