Longtime medical drama Chicago Med is gearing up for a season of change as it enters its tenth year on NBC. The fan-favorite series will see two fresh faces join the veteran cast, along with a new showrunner taking the reins.
As longtime co-showrunners Diane Frolov and Andy Schneider stepped down after nine seasons, Allen MacDonald has been tapped to oversee the Chicago Med crew. MacDonald takes over the showrunner duties and will help steer the introduction of two new series regulars.
Actor Darren Barnet, known for his starring role in Netflix’s Never Have I Ever, joins the cast as emergency room attending physician Dr. John Frost. Barnet brings his talent and charisma to the city of Chicago, with fans excited to see what stories unfold for his character.
Sarah Ramos, praised for her performances in The Bear and Parenthood, comes aboard as trauma surgeon Dr. Caitlin Lenox. Beyond her acting chops, Ramos has also proven herself behind the scenes as a writer, director and producer.
Longtime Chicago Med fans will also have to bid farewell to Dr. Crockett Marcel, played by Dominic Rains since Season 5. However, there remains a possibility that Rains may return for guest appearances.
The changes come as part of a period of transition across the entire Chicago franchise. Over on Chicago Fire, Dermot Mulroney recently joined the cast of the firehouse drama. Fans can catch the Season 10 premiere of Chicago Med on September 25th at 8pm EST on NBC.
