Fan-favorite franchise director Chad Stahelski is taking John Wick’s gripping, no-holds-barred world to the small screen. Stahelski, who has helmed all four “John Wick” films to date, will executive produce and direct the pilot of “John Wick: Under the High Table,” Lionsgate Television’s new series exploring the assassin society’s complicated power structures.
Set in the aftermath of the cliffhanger conclusion to “John Wick: Chapter 4,” the anticipated series will delve into the turbulent transition period following John Wick’s demise. As ambitious killers seek to climb the ranks and shape the new order, loyalty to old guard players like Winston will be tested. Stahelski promises the show will seamlessly blend new and recognizable characters within the meticulously crafted universe fans have grown to love over four hit films.
“Our goal is to continue expanding on the story and lore of the ‘John Wick’ franchise through the TV series on Starz,” Stahelski said. “Focusing on the rich underworld and noteworthy figures that have encompassed this story from the beginning.”
Since the surprise 2014 blockbuster, John Wick has evolved into a lucrative IP generating over $600 million worldwide. The success of 2021’s “The Continental” prequel series on Peacock showcased fans’ insatiable appetite for more of this grounded, R-rated world. With “John Wick: Chapter 4” seemingly concluding Reeves’ character arc, “Under the High Table” allows exploration of untold corners of the deadly assassination playground.
Upcoming projects like “John Wick Presents: Ballerina” starring Ana de Armas and a potential Donnie Yen spin-off will further flesh out recurring players and lore introduced on the small screen.
