The upcoming live-action Minecraft movie has been hit with accusations of misconduct on its set. YouTube star Valkyrae, who has a small role in the film, says she witnessed actor Jason Momoa yell angrily at crew members after an emotional scene was shot. This is just the latest controversy to emerge for the troubled movie adaptation.
In a video interview, Valkyrae said her “worst celebrity experience” was watching Momoa’s behavior on the Minecraft set. She recalled seeing him “really mad” and “yelling” at crew members who were setting up a shot after filming an intense scene. Valkyrae said “it was pretty disappointing” and that she “would not be happy working under those conditions.”
This is the first public allegation about Momoa’s conduct during filming. While he has faced rumors of drinking on other sets before, only Valkyrae has come forward with a story so far. Representatives for both Momoa and the movie have not yet commented on the accusation.
The movie was already facing criticism for its first trailer. Released recently, it received over 1.5 million dislikes on YouTube compared to only about 700,000 likes. This mixed response has raised concerns that the film may struggle commercially. However, some note that its core intended audience of younger Minecraft fans may not be reflected in online reaction.
With its April 2025 release still far off, the filmmakers now have time to address mounting controversies. How they respond could impact whether audiences warm up to the movie or it continues to face backlash. As more details emerge, viewers will watch to see if the Minecraft adaptation can overcome these hurdles or if its problems will doomed it to disappointment.
