The animated superhero series “Invincible” will return for its third season on Amazon Prime Video in early 2025 without taking a mid-season break. The streaming service announced on [DATE] that the upcoming season will premiere with three episodes on February 6th and continue with one new episode each week, wrapping up the eight-episode run without an interruption.
This update directly addresses criticism from some fans of the show’s second season. That season was split into two halves of four episodes each, separated by a four-month gap between them. The new continuous release format echoes the successful model of the first season. The announcement teaser poked fun at the scheduling issues by depicting a character telling the show’s protagonist Mark Grayson he took “a four-month vacation right in the middle of things” last season.
Series creator Robert Kirkman has acknowledged that animation production timelines were a significant challenge leading to the split second season. The COVID-19 pandemic also impacted work. But the decision for an uninterrupted third season suggests those hurdles are being largely overcome. Kirkman and the production team have shown they are listening to viewer feedback by updating their release approach in response to fan concerns about the mid-season break. This response is meant to build more trust between the viewers and creators.
While details on the plot are still under wraps, the teaser hinted at Mark training more to prepare for future threats from his alien race, the Viltrumites. This signals the new installment will continue raising the dramatic stakes after the climactic finale of season two. Critics have praised “Invincible” for taking on mature themes and willing to subvert expectations in the superhero genre. The upcoming continuous season looks to further establish why it stands out among many crowded superhero stories.
