Joe Locke, who plays Billy Maximoff aka Wiccan in Marvel’s Agatha All Along, wants to see his character team up with Doctor Strange in future projects. In a recent interview with Deadline, Locke said Wiccan could benefit from learning magic under Strange’s mentorship. As a young magic user, Locke believes Strange could help Billy hone his abilities given their established connection in comic books. However, Locke remained cautious about predicting future storylines.
A partnership between Wiccan and Doctor Strange could bring drama due to Strange’s complex history with Billy’s mother, Wanda Maximoff aka Scarlet Witch. Their relationship was explored in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Locke also noted Billy’s controversial choice to inhabit William Kaplan’s body, setting up additional storyline potential.
Agatha All Along sets the stage for one plotline – Billy searching for his reincarnated twin brother Tommy alongside Agatha Harkness. This could weave into the upcoming Vision Quest project about Billy’s father, Vision.
During filming, Locke dealt with a humorous wardrobe mishap. Though three versions of his supersuit were made, including a stunt double version, his attributes led to an unexpected issue. Locke said bending over caused the costume’s backside to rip due to its tight fit. While stressed at the time, he laughed about it now. Despite challenges, Locke called the intricate outfit his favorite from the series and said portraying a Marvel hero remains an incredible experience.
As the MCU expands its supernatural realm, Locke believes Billy Maximoff is well-positioned for an impactful role, whether with the Young Avengers or through other magical storylines in the Marvel universe.
