Netflix, TF1, and Newen Studios are collaborating to develop France’s first daily drama series. The series will be streamed and broadcast concurrently, signaling a huge shift in TV production.
The new series, Tout Pour La Lumière (All for the Light), follows a family’s journey through the worlds of music and dance. Filming will begin next year in La Ciotat and Marseille, and the project will feature innovative storytelling across streaming and conventional mediums.
This groundbreaking alliance is a daring experiment in content delivery. The series will launch on Netflix five days before it airs on TF1 and its video-on-demand platform TF1+, defying established broadcast norms.
Pauline Dauvin, Netflix France’s Vice President of Content, stressed the partnership’s significance. “This collaboration demonstrates our commitment to innovation and supporting artistic creation,” she told me.
The series arrives as streaming services experiment with daily drama formats. Similar recent efforts include Disney+’s “Return to Las Sabinas” and the transition of shows like “Neighbours” to streaming platforms.
The series, produced by Céline François and supervised by Stéphanie Brémond of Newen Studios, is written by Coline Assous, Yentl Coubes, and Maxime Cormier. Pierre Branco, CEO of Newen Studios, expressed excitement about reaching new audiences through this unusual collaboration.
“We are thrilled to bring our drama expertise to this innovative project,” Branco told me. The alliance represents a potential new model for international television production, combining streaming and traditional broadcast methodologies.
By merging Netflix’s global reach with TF1’s local knowledge, the project highlights the changing environment of television narrative. As media consumption evolves, this collaboration may become more widespread in the entertainment business.
