Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, and director Shawn Levy plan to collaborate on a new film together, but this time outside of the superhero genre. The announcement came during Reynolds’ recent interview on the Variety Awards Circuit podcast.
The project will mark the third time Reynolds and Levy have teamed up. They previously worked together on the blockbuster hit “Free Guy” and the time-travel adventure film “The Adam Project.” Their latest movie together, “Deadpool & Wolverine,” grossed over $636 million domestically, making it the 12th highest-grossing film worldwide. It also became the highest-grossing R-rated movie ever.
During the podcast interview, Reynolds revealed that he has spent the past year writing a new screenplay for him, Jackman, and Levy to work on together. While plot details are still under wraps, Reynolds said this movie will be different since it’s not based in the Marvel universe like “Deadpool & Wolverine.” The announcement has generated excitement in Hollywood given the trio’s proven record of success working together in the past.
Reynolds, Jackman, and Levy each bring different talents and skills that make them a formidable creative team. Reynolds continues to demonstrate his versatility across genres and was recently honored with his second Emmy award. Golden Globe-nominated actor Hugh Jackman is best known for his acclaimed role in “Les Miserables.” Director Levy, who received an Oscar nomination for producing “Arrival,” is respected for his work on shows like “Stranger Things.”
Though the new project does not yet have an official studio backing it, their track record of box office hits makes it likely there will be strong interest given the talents involved. “Deadpool & Wolverine” is currently campaigning for awards recognition during the upcoming seasons.
