Actor Murray Bartlett is experiencing a remarkable career renaissance, with acclaimed performances in hit series and exciting new film projects taking center stage at this year’s Sundance Film Festival.
Best known for his roles in HBO’s “The White Lotus” and HBO’s “The Last of Us,” Bartlett premiered his latest film “Opus” at the festival, bringing an infectious enthusiasm to the red carpet. The A24 production, which co-stars John Malkovich and Ayo Edebiri, explores themes of celebrity and isolation through the story of a reclusive pop star.
Despite a 30-year career in entertainment, Bartlett remains grounded. “I live in the woods with my dog, so fame hasn’t dramatically changed my life,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. “When I do go into cities, people are kind, and it’s sweet.”
The actor credits “The White Lotus” creator Mike White for his recent career resurgence. “He gifted me a different period of my life with wonderful opportunities,” Bartlett said. He’s particularly excited about the show’s upcoming third season, set to premiere February 16 on Max, which features an ensemble cast including Natasha Rothwell and Carrie Coon.
Bartlett also shared details about his recent collaboration with Amy Adams in “At the Sea,” describing the film’s production as “fast and furious” but ultimately rewarding. “Working with Amy Adams, who I consider a hero, was absolutely dreamy,” he explained.
Looking ahead, Bartlett seems poised to continue his remarkable professional trajectory, approaching each new project with the excitement of a newcomer and the depth of a seasoned performer.
