Actor Oscar Isaac will headline Star Wars Celebration 2025 in Tokyo, reigniting fan interest in the beloved sci-fi franchise. The event, scheduled for April 18-20, marks Isaac’s first major Star Wars convention appearance since 2019.
Isaac, best known for playing Resistance pilot Poe Dameron in the sequel trilogy, has had a complicated relationship with the franchise. In 2020, he joked about returning only if he “needed another house,” but softened his stance by 2022, telling Variety he was “open to anything.”
The actor has been vocal about past creative differences, particularly regarding Disney’s rejection of a potential romantic storyline between his character Poe and John Boyega’s Finn. This candid critique has only increased fan curiosity about his potential future involvement.
Isaac’s appearance comes at a significant moment for Star Wars fans. Daisy Ridley is confirmed to star in an upcoming film set 15 years after “The Rise of Skywalker,” which will follow her character Rey’s efforts to rebuild the Jedi Order. Ridley has expressed interest in reuniting with her former co-stars, adding fuel to reunion speculation.
However, fans should temper expectations. Disney’s Star Wars film schedule has faced repeated delays, with Ridley’s film—to be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy—not expected before December 17, 2027.
