Alien: Earth opened strong across FX, Hulu and Disney+ with 9.2 million global views in its first six days, according to internal Disney data that counts a “view” by dividing total streaming time by an episode’s runtime. The series bowed August 12 with a two-episode premiere and returns Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on FX, streaming on Hulu in the U.S. and on Disney+ in international markets.
Early streaming traction arrives alongside modest linear sampling. On FX’s opening night, the 92-minute premiere averaged about 589,000 viewers and a 0.11 rating among adults 18–49, per Nielsen figures cited by industry trackers, underscoring how the audience is concentrated on platforms where the franchise’s recent TV hits typically find scale.
The performance places the launch in the company of recent FX standouts measured under the same methodology. Shōgun posted 9 million views in its first six days in 2024, while The Bear’s third season logged 5.4 million in four days last summer, offering a yardstick for how Disney presents early engagement across its services.
Created for television by Noah Hawley, Alien: Earth is set shortly before the events of Ridley Scott’s 1979 film and stars Sydney Chandler and Timothy Olyphant. The opening chapters follow Wendy and a team of hybrid tactical soldiers after an extraterrestrial crash on Earth, with new installments rolling out weekly.
Disney has paired the series with broader product integrations and immersive extensions on its streaming ecosystem, including a promotional experience tied to supported headsets, part of a push to spotlight franchise storytelling beyond theatrical releases. The strategy mirrors how the company has promoted recent FX premieres that quickly became streaming-first performers, using coordinated global windows and a clear cadence to build momentum from week to week.
