FX has set English Teacher’s second-season launch for Thursday, Sept. 25 at 9 p.m. ET with three episodes airing back-to-back; the entire 10-episode run will be available to stream the next day on Hulu. The network’s scheduling mirrors the show’s freshman rollout while adding a binge option for viewers who prefer to watch the season in one sitting.
Created by and starring Brian Jordan Alvarez as Austin high school instructor Evan Marquez, the series follows a teacher whose ideals keep colliding with campus politics and his own messy personal life. Returning cast for Season 2 includes Stephanie Koenig, Sean Patton, Carmen Christopher and Enrico Colantoni, reprising roles that anchored the staff-room dynamics in the first season.
The renewal was made official earlier this year following a strong first-season reception and awards recognition. In a statement at the time, FX’s top scripted executive praised the creative team and confirmed a 2025 bow with 10 episodes, framing the show as one of the network’s standout new comedies.
English Teacher’s return also arrives after public allegations against Alvarez surfaced late last year, which he denied; the network said it reviewed the claims prior to launch and declined further comment. With production proceeding, Season 2 brings the ensemble back to Morrison-Hensley High as Evan navigates new flashpoints at work and at home.
Industry watchers will note the split release strategy: a linear premiere designed to keep appointment viewing on the schedule, paired with a next-day full-season drop to capture streaming audiences that helped the series break out in 2024. That approach aligns with FX’s recent pattern for select half-hour comedies and reflects how the network is steering viewers to both cable and its streaming home.
