HBO has set a March 1 premiere for “DTF St. Louis,” releasing the first full trailer for Steven Conrad’s dark comedy limited series starring Jason Bateman, David Harbour and Linda Cardellini. The seven-episode run will air Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on HBO and stream on Max, positioning the show as a key piece of the network’s early-spring lineup.
The trailer frames the series as a suburban pressure-cooker: three adults slide from private restlessness into a love triangle that turns lethal, with a body and a police investigation hanging over the story’s flirtation, jealousy and risk-taking. HBO’s official description calls it a tale of “middle-age malaise” that ends with one of the three dead, and the footage leans into that promise with quick cuts of secrecy and spiraling consequences.
Conrad, known for building stories where deadpan humor collides with dread, writes, directs and runs the series. In a recent interview tied to first-look coverage, he argued that suburbia’s calm surface hides a messier truth: “No one’s normal,” he said, “It just looks that way from across the street.” That idea sits at the center of the trailer’s tone, which treats desire as both engine and accelerant.
Beyond the three leads, HBO’s announced cast includes Richard Jenkins, Joy Sunday, Arlan Ruf, Peter Sarsgaard and Chris Perfetti. The project also marks the final form of a show that has shifted over time: early development reports tied it to a different configuration and concept before Bateman came aboard and the series moved into its current, original setup.
