The first full trailer for The Devil Wears Prada 2 puts Miranda Priestly back in power suits and back on the defensive, building the sequel around a fight for influence and advertising money as fashion media keeps shifting away from print. 20th Century Studios said the film will open in theaters on May 1, 2026, reuniting the central cast from the 2006 hit The Devil Wears Prada.
In the footage, Anne Hathaway’s Andy Sachs re-enters Miranda’s orbit, while Emily Blunt’s Emily Charlton has climbed into an executive role that controls the luxury spend Miranda needs to keep Runway afloat. The trailer plays that tension for bite-sized comedy and workplace warfare, with Stanley Tucci’s Nigel again positioned as Miranda’s sharpest sounding board.
Meryl Streep returns as Miranda, alongside filmmaker David Frankel and screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna, with producer Wendy Finerman back in the mix. The studio has framed the sequel as a story about legacy power meeting a harsher marketplace, a premise that mirrors the pressure glossy magazines have faced as ad pages shrink and publishers chase commerce, partnerships, and new audiences.
New cast additions include Kenneth Branagh, Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, B. J. Novak, and Pauline Chalamet, according to the film’s official listing. Adrian Grenier, who played Andy’s boyfriend Nate in the first film, does not return.
The studio dropped a teaser in November 2025, and the new trailer’s early view counts on YouTube climbed fast, pointing to a sequel that plans to sell nostalgia while updating the office politics for 2026. Fashion coverage has also fixated on the clothes: costume designer Molly Rogers told Vogue she leaned on vintage references and long-wearing silhouettes rather than chasing a single season’s trend cycle.
