Holly Willoughby Bets Her Comeback on YouTube

The former "This Morning" host is producing and self-funding her new venture, betting her 16-million-strong digital following can carry her past a string of cancelled TV projects.

Holly Willoughby is taking her television career fully independent, launching a self-funded YouTube lifestyle series that will pit her against a landscape she has never had to navigate without a broadcaster behind her.

The show, called Together, premieres July 28 with two episodes released weekly, built around five recurring segments covering conversation, cooking, style, wellness and casual hangouts with guests. Early names booked for the run include Stanley Tucci, Katherine Ryan, Joanne McNally, Emma Bunton and Nicole Appleton, along with campaigners and chefs joining Willoughby for topical conversations.

She produces and presents the series herself, filmed in a dedicated studio, with tech health company Voy signed on as founding brand partner. Production runs through Hungry Bear Media, the company owned by her husband, Dan Baldwin, which has also made “Gladiators.”

The move caps a rough stretch for the 45-year-old presenter. She left “This Morning” after 14 years co-hosting the show, where she was reportedly paid £730,000 annually. Since then, “Dancing on Ice” was cancelled after two further series under her, and Netflix axed “Celebrity Bear Hunt” following a single season. Willoughby says she carries a digital following of 16 million across her existing platforms, a base she now needs to convert into sustained viewership on a platform that runs on algorithmic recommendation rather than a fixed schedule.

Industry watchers see the venture as a genuine test. One television commentator noted that standing out on YouTube means competing for attention without the scheduling advantages a network provides. A crisis management specialist framed the show as a high-stakes comeback bid, distinct from her ITV work because it carries her personal brand directly and comes from a production company run by her own husband. That specialist added that digital audiences respond to unfiltered personality, and Willoughby will need to shed a more polished, press-trained delivery for the format to land.

She joins a growing list of British broadcast veterans, including Piers Morgan, who have shifted primary output toward YouTube as the platform’s ad revenue climbed to an estimated $62 billion last year.
