Nancy Robertson has joined Hallmark Channel’s new holiday movie An Angel in My Stocking, replacing Carol Kane as Margaret, the guardian angel who steers the film’s central romance. The change comes after production began this week in Vancouver for Hallmark’s 2026 Countdown to Christmas slate.
Deadline reported Robertson’s casting Thursday, two days after announcing Kane alongside Fiona Gubelmann and Marco Grazzini. The latest report says Kane had to exit the project, but no reason for her departure has been publicly established in the available reporting.
Gubelmann stars as Amanda, who married Jack, played by Grazzini, after a whirlwind three-month romance. Their marriage fell apart after their first Christmas together. Three years after the divorce, Amanda heads to Vermont with her sister for a holiday escape and discovers Jack is on the same flight.
During the trip, Amanda meets Margaret, a traveler who vanishes without anyone else noticing her. Bad weather diverts the plane to the remote town of Pinecone Lake, leaving Amanda and Jack stranded together. Margaret later reappears and tells Amanda she has been her guardian angel all along, guiding her as she reconnects with the community and reconsiders what she wants.
The recast comes unusually close to the original announcement. Gubelmann had already celebrated Kane’s involvement on social media, describing the prospect of working with her as a dream come true and praising her comedy career, while Grazzini posted from his first day on set.
Robertson is best known for playing Wanda Dollard on the Canadian sitcom Corner Gas and later voicing the character in Corner Gas Animated. She also produced and starred in the comedy series Hiccups.
An Angel in My Stocking is a Hallmark Media production. Risa Shapiro, Samantha Sprecher and Kathy Kloves serve as executive producers, with Ali Liebert directing from a screenplay by Kloves. Liebert previously directed Grazzini in Haunted Harmony Mysteries: Prelude to a Wedding. Hallmark has not announced a premiere date for the movie, which is slated for Countdown to Christmas.
Robertson also has an earlier holiday-film credit: she played Deputy Hornbuckle in the 2008 drama Thomas Kinkade’s Christmas Cottage.
