Real Housewives Heads to London as Hayu Sets August Premiere

Hayu’s maiden commission follows six high-society women and signals a fresh growth play for the reality-only streamer.

Hayu will debut The Real Housewives of London on 18 August, marking the streamer’s first self-commissioned programme and the 30th international outing for NBCUniversal’s long-running reality franchise.

The 10-episode season follows six well-connected women navigating wealth and reputation in the capital: fashion influencer and Ladies of London alum Juliet Angus; skincare entrepreneur Amanda Cronin; former Real Housewives of Jersey cast-member Karen Loderick-Peace; Australian-born events impresario Juliet Mayhew; Mayfair socialite Panthea Parker; and pâtissière-turned-businesswoman Nessie Welschinger. Shooting began in March, and a trailer teases champagne-fuelled rows, a Highland escape and Parker’s lavish 50th-birthday party, with comedian Katherine Ryan confirmed to host the reunion special.

“London is an iconic location for our core markets, so commissioning an original there felt like the next logical step in super-serving fans,” said Hayu managing director Hendrik McDermott, framing the launch as a milestone in the platform’s push for distinctive content across 45 territories. Produced by UTAS UK Productions—the unscripted arm behind Made in Chelsea—episodes will stream weekly worldwide, though U.S. viewers may have to wait for secondary distribution because Hayu is not available stateside.

The London edition arrives as the wider Housewives empire—born in Orange County in 2006 and now spanning more than two dozen cities—faces strategic recalibration; Bravo recently paused its Dubai branch to avoid “franchise fatigue,” while Hayu hopes fresh locales will retain subscribers amid intensifying SVOD competition.

Casting the show was not without hiccups: actress Patsy Kensit and other high-profile Brits declined offers, citing lifestyles that were “too quiet” for the format, before producers settled on a mix of socialites and entrepreneurs. Media analysts suggest the blend of established names and new wealth could broaden the audience beyond Bravo loyalists and help test whether a UK-centric narrative can match the ratings firepower of its American cousins.
